AACOM is currently undertaking an executive search to identify candidates for the role of President and Chief Executive Officer. This individual will have the credentials and leadership capability to create and realize a vision that will enable AACOM to achieve new stature within the Osteopathic profession, and achieve economic growth for the organization. The successful candidate will operate in a high-profile role and must be capable of strengthening and expanding the strong alliance the organization has forged with University Presidents, Academic Deans, key business leaders, elected officials, educational officials and members of the American Osteopathic Association.
The new President and Chief Executive Officer will have the responsibility to plan and direct the programs and activities of the Association, to provide leadership in the field of osteopathic medical education and service to members of the Association, to promote and manage the collection and maintenance of information regarding medical education, and to develop priorities and principles to improve visibility and support of programs and projects in the field of osteopathic medical education. Working with the Board of Deans, this leader will also establish appropriate review and advisory committees for the efficient operation and fiscal management of the Association. This individual must possess passion and excitement for AACOM’s vision and mission with a willingness and ability to build on the success of the Association’s current programs.
Requirements include past success in an executive level leadership capacity at a University or College of Osteopathic Medicine or non-profit environment. Excellent communication skills with proven experience and success in public and media relations, and fundraising experience for non-profit initiatives will be key. A proven record of providing mission-focused leadership and acting as a change agent in the ever-evolving medical education arena is also vital.
The successful candidate will possess the leadership skills sufficient to gain the trust and confidence of member schools and leadership of AACOM and will be comfortable interacting with all levels of an academic community, corporate partners and political leaders.
