Michigan State University (MSU), College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM), Department of Osteopathic Medicine (OMM) invites candidates for the positions of OMM Clerkship Director. The OMM Clerkship Directors will be responsible for directing and administering the OMM/OPP portion of the Clerkship Program throughout the State of Michigan.
OMM Clerkship Directors Responsibilities Include:
Serve as spokesperson for the OMM Department Chairperson regarding education matters within the department and the College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Serves as liaison between students, residents and faculty within the OMM department, faculty of other departments and the college administration.
Ensure each rotation’s curriculum complements the OMM department’s pre-clinical and overall clinical curriculum.
Coordinates resident and faculty teaching of medical students within the OMM department.
Serve as mentor to students who are interested in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine/Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (OMM/NMM) specialty
Become active in osteopathic education research
Establish and maintain a vibrant, clinically oriented learning experience for students.
Establish and maintain mutually respected relationship with residents and residency directors alike.
In cooperation with the OMM department chair, provide faculty with essential information regarding goals and objectives for the students’ learning experience on the clerkship, expectations for student performance and criteria for grading and feedback.
Regional Clerkship Director Position has a .8 or 80% effort that can be split into two (2) positions, each at a .4 or 40% effort.
Clinical effort within an OMM/NMM outpatient clinic.
Qualify for licensure in the State of Michigan.
Experience in pre-clinical and/or clinical teaching of osteopathic medical students.
Must possess broad knowledge of osteopathic medicine pre-clinical and clinical curriculum.
