This is a great opportunity for part-time and full-time Physiatrists at the Martinez VA Outpatient Clinic. The incumbent will largely focus on outpatient musculoskeletal and neuromuscular rehabilitation, with some backup coverage of the inpatient rehabilitation unit. Skills should include performance of peripheral joint, botulinum and trigger point injections, electromyography/nerve conduction studies, and inpatient rehabilitation consultation and coverage. Experience with acupuncture would be an added value. The incumbent will determine diagnoses, initiate treatments that emphasize restoration of function, prescribe and oversee comprehensive therapy treatments, and make appropriate referrals to surgical, medicine, and behavioral health specialties for co-treatment and diagnoses of neuromuscular, neurologic, musculoskeletal, and suspected mental health disorders. The incumbent will work with rehabilitation therapists, pain care clinicians, and other health care providers in assigned treatment teams to establish a comprehensive and integrated rehabilitation program for the Veteran.

 Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Extensive mastery of the treatment principles applied for diagnosis in orthopedics and neurology, chronic pain, spinal cord injury, rheumatology, amputation and diseases specific to the geriatric population.
• Prescribe therapeutic exercise, other rehabilitation modalities, and alternative medicine options, such as acupuncture, chiropractic manipulations, low power laser therapy, etc.
• Provide consultations and recommendations for primary care physicians on pain medication management.
• Accurately determine indications and provide peripheral joint, botulinum and trigger point injections.
• Perform and accurately interpret electrodiagnostic studies.
• Inpatient consultation and acute inpatient rehabilitation unit coverage.
• Participate in professional competency activities and maintain professional requirements for continuing education.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Completion of residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
• Board Certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation 
• Experience in performing various injection procedures, medication management and conducting electrodiagnostic studies 
• Inpatient consultation and acute inpatient rehabilitation

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Flexibility with schedule may be an option)

Candidates must: 1) be a US citizen, 2) possess a current, full, unrestricted medical license in any state, and 3) be Board Eligible/Certified in Physiatry
